Just before the holiday break, Rockstar Games was happy, the big court case in UK was over, the Lapsus$ hacker sentenced and their official GTA VI trailer still being talked about in the mainstream media, the thought their past #cybersecurity breaches were behind them, but nope that was not the case, as over the holiday weekend, the full GTV V source code, rumored to be as much as 200 gigabytes of data was published, and like @lmk_nathan42915 stated on X, the gaming community was fast to figure out how to compile the code and there is already a playable build, if you know where to look and whom to talk to, and don’t mind getting a DMCA takedown notice from your ISP.
But, even through it is sad to see gaming companies go through yet another security breach, like the recent Insomniac Games leak which made developers afraid as their personal details were included in the terabytes of information published. This new drop into the dark side of the internet has given those combing through all the info released, details on what Rockstar was planning to do back when GTA V was being developed before their moved their focus into the GTA Online world instead.
A whole series of single-player DLC missions were cancelled, along with even Bully 2 that many fans were hoping would someday see the light but it seems it was canned back in 2017 so that Rockstar could prioritize GTA 6 and Red Dead Redemption II.
In the meantime, if you know where to look, and want to have fun and have gotten bored with playing the Wolverine leak, enjoy! Just don’t ask us for any links!
